Ten years ago, almost eleven, I published my first novel. It was a moment of personal triumph and immense pride. I followed that up by writing a second novel, which at the time was called “Shadowless Men.” I signed with an indie publisher to put that book into the world. As things sometimes do, that all fell through, but it held the book up for two years.
When that contract ended, I decided to spruce up the old manuscript. I started working on it again and began rewriting it. I don’t remember what got in the way next. Life, probably, but I put the whole thing on hold for ten whole years.
A lot happened during that time. I moved from Northwest Arkansas to North Little Rock. I had a few jobs before I found one that stuck. I met the woman I wanted to spend my life with.
Last summer, I started writing again. It came slowly at first. I had to find rhythm again. The words started flowing, and the joy returned. Now, the novel is written and self-edited. It has a cover. People are reading it. Everything is coming together incredibly well.
So that makes it time for me to think about marketing. With the first book, I made a website, but after I let it lapse, someone in China bought up the domain. I lost that email address, too. No use crying about it.
That means I’m starting from scratch. I have this website up and running. I’m sure there are some bugs, and I haven’t figured out the SEO settings yet, but it’s getting there. And, of course, I have a new email address. Unfortunately, I’m also starting from scratch with my mailing list. I lost all of your email addresses.
So if you would, please sign up for my new mailing list by clicking the button below. I promise I won’t sell your information, and I won’t spam your email. News is coming, and I’d hate for you to miss out on it because you didn’t subscribe.
I really hope you like this new book when it comes out. The project is special to me. Even after ten years, it refused to leave my mind. If it affects you like it has me, you’ll be thinking about it for a long time, too.
